Athol

Athol sits at the north end of the Rathdrum Prairie along Highway 95, a small town surrounded by open country and timber. It's the one of the more rural of the North Idaho communities close to Coeur d'Alene, and it draws buyers looking for acreage, space between neighbors, and easy access to the outdoors, while still being a manageable drive to town.

Housing here leans toward homes on land, from a few acres to larger parcels, along with smaller in-town properties. The area is served by the Lakeland Joint School District, the same district as Rathdrum. Coeur d'Alene and Interstate 90 are roughly 20 to 25 minutes south, and Hayden's shopping is closer still.

Athol is best known as the gateway to Farragut State Park on the southern tip of Lake Pend Oreille, with hiking, camping, boating, and disc golf, and to Silverwood Theme Park just down the highway. For buyers who want space, quiet, and the outdoors at the doorstep, it's one of the area's most practical options.
